Alex and Marie Manoukian Treasure Museum

The "Alex and Marie Manukyan" Treasure Museum is situated on the grounds of the First Capital Echmiadzin in Vagarshapat city. It was opened on October 11, 1982 and named after Armenian-American benefactors. The exhibition includes church items, vestments, lamps, altar curtains, cups and works of applied art. Special value is placed on paintings depicting Holy Mother of God created by Armenian craftsmen from various eras. Some exhibits were temporarily moved here from the southeastern part of the cathedral during construction work. The museum building was designed by architect Bagdasar Arzumanian.
